Philmont 2026

High Adventure Space available for Philmont 2026!

Heart of New England Council is going to be submitting a bid for crew slots for our Council’s 2026 Philmont Contingent.

To help guide us with requesting the correct number of Crew slots, please advise me no later than October 15th with your Unit’s indicative interest of the number of Crews and participants that may have an interest were we to be rewarded the requested number of crew slots.

Traditionally the Contingent from Heart of New England departs from a Boston area airport for this two week adventure on a Saturday in July (possibly July 12th through July 26th or July 19th through August 2rd, 2022) subject to the slots our Council is awarded.

Although a budget for Philmont 2026 has not yet been finalized due to all of the moving pieces, the cost may be in the range of $3,750. This is an increase of $250 over what we are targeting for 2025 in part because of a $100 increase in the cost from Philmont. This preliminary estimated budget for 2026 includes all round trip transportation, Philmont’s fee, meals and activities along the way.

Eligibility and crew size:

· Participants must be 14 years of age or have completed 8th Grade and be at least 13 years of age prior to participating.

· All youth and adult participants must be a registered with the Boy Scouts of America.

· All of the youths and adults must meet strict height and weight requirements as outlined on the BSA medical form.

· Including adult advisors, the maximum Crew size is 12 and the minimum Crew size is 8. Each Crew is required to have a majority of youth participants. The maximum number of adults (21 and over) is 4 per crew.

· Each Crew to have a minimum of 3 adult advisors and Philmont requires that 2 members on each crew be certified in Wilderness First Aid and CPR.
