TVSR Drone Experience 2023
July 2 - July 30Free
Prepare to Fly!
The program will consist of a brief explanation on the history of drones, how they are built and fly, their use in recreation and industry, careers, safety in using and conclude with letting the Scouts fly.
As part of our drone immersive experience, each Scout will be loaned a Council owned drone to fly during their flying experience. *Only Council owned drones will be allowed while at camp – please do not bring drones to camp*
We plan on each scout being able to spend up to 30 minutes of flight time!
Prior to using a drone, the scout will be required to complete The Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST) with further information provided here: https://www.faa.gov/uas/recreational_flyers/knowledge_test_updates. This prerequisite should be completed prior to Camp (bring certificate to camp).
At this time, there is one class being offered on Tuesday during evening program and we are looking to add another evening class. We will update the camp coordinators when another option becomes available.
The experience will take place in the Sports Field.
Scouts will be paired with a staff person or an adult leader during their flying session. Participants should bring a camp chair for comfort or sitting. In the case of inclement weather, the program may be canceled.
First come, first served – so make your registration. Don’t miss this great opportunity to learn about this cool tech and enjoy the resources of our STEM program!
Note: We plan to add an addtional drone class, so if interested please add your scout’s name to the waitlist.
*Personal drones will be confiscated and returned at the end of the week.
