The Heart of New England is pleased to offer Turkey Shoot 2020. BSA trained and certified shooting sports instructors will be running this event for 128 Scouts, BSA and Venturer participants. Unfortunately, this number has been reduced from previous years due to restrictions and guidelines set forth by COVID-19.
Participants will compete using Rifle, Shotgun, Tomahawks, and Pellet Rifles. The highest target scorers of each patrol and the highest scorer of each shooting sports station will win frozen turkeys. Participants may only win one Turkey.
Event registration will begin October 15th at 9:00am. Units are allowed to register only ONE patrol of 8 participants. Two adult volunteers will be required to stay with the participants at all times*. There is no individual registration.
The cost is $160.00 per patrol. If your unit cannot fill 8 spots, it will be up to you to find participants from other units to complete your patrol.
Due to the popularity of this event, we are only offering online registration. There will be no refunds issued unless the event is canceled by the Council due to unforeseen circumstances.
Program session times:
Each session will consist of 4 patrols in the following time frames.
Saturday AM 8 to 11:30am
Saturday PM 12:30 to 4:00pm
Sunday AM 8 to 11:30 am
Sunday PM 12:30 to 4:00pm
Please note: Only the same 8 participants are allowed to attend a session. You cannot switch in different scouts for the different shooting activities. Unfortunately, there will be no hot lunch served this year. We thank you for your understanding as we follow the proper guidelines to ensure the safety of our scouts, staff and volunteers.
Once registration is complete, we will notify you of your shooting session. Your unit may attend for the day or reserve a campsite for the weekend. Campsites are available for those units who are registered for the event. Your troop may bring more individuals to camp over the weekend but as stated above, only eight will be allowed to participate in the the event.
Arrival, check-in and parking logistics will be sent to units upon registration completion.
*If parents and adult volunteers are bringing the participants to the event, please know that only two adult volunteers from the unit may accompany participants into the camp.
