NYLT – National Youth Leadership Training

National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is a six-day course that gives scouts the tools they need to be leaders in their troops and in their life beyond scouting. Many scouts return to tell us this course had as much impact in their lives as their Eagle Scout rank.
This registration page is for UNIT LEADERS ONLY. This constitutes the leader recommendation, and helps us to manage registrations efficiently.
If your son or daughter is interested in this course, please have them speak to their Scoutmaster or unit leadership.
We will be following all safety protocols in effect at the time of the course, in consultation with the camp staff and health officials.
Course Dates: Sunday June 27 1:00 pm to Friday July 2 3:00 pm
Location: Treasure Valley Scout Reservation, 394 Pleasantdale Rd, Rutland MA 01543
Cost: $395 per participant, due upon registration
Requirements: Participants must be…
- 13 years or older
- Registered with a Scouting unit
- First Class rank by the beginning of the course
- Recommendation of their Adult Unit Leader
- Should have taken Introduction to Leadership Skills in their unit
Course Limits: 48 participants total
*Additional scouts from troops may be added to a waiting list and may be accepted if space is available. Please wait list your scouts by preference. Any available slots will be filled by rotating through unit wait lists on April 25 at noon. After filling slots from the waitlist, any additional available slots after April 25 will be filled on a first-come first-served basis.
We were unable to hold a course in 2020 due to the pandemic, so we anticipate greater demand this year. Please register early! See below for wait list information.
Pre-course Meeting: June 3rd at 7:00PM at TVSR.
This is an important event to prepare for the course! You will learn what to bring and start to prepare mentally for your leadership journey.
Upon completion, each participant will receive a T-Shirt, Hat, NYLT uniform patch, stave and medallion, and printed leadership materials for use in their troop.
