The 2020 Heart of New England Council, Merit Badge Voc-Tech Event, will take place on February 1st, 15th, and 29th with a snow date of March 28th. We will once again be holding the event at Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical High School (Monty Tech) in Fitchburg. The schedule for each of the days will be as follows:
Check-In: 8am to 8:30am
Opening Ceremony: 8:35am
First Merit Badge Session: 9am
Second Merit Badge Session: 10:50am
Similar to last year, registration will be completed at the Unit level. This approach provides Scoutmasters with the opportunity to evaluate the merit badge selections made by their scouts. We ask that you ensure that scouts are assigned to merit badges that are age and skill-level appropriate. The list of merit badges offered this year can be found below with pre-requisite requirements noted for each. Registration will remain open until January 24th or until all available slots have been filled.
The cost of the program is $20 per scout. Scouts will receive Merit Badge books on the first day of the program, as part of their program fee. Scoutmasters are asked to complete registration utilizing the link below. A separate registration is required for each scout who plans to participate. To streamline the process for you, we have inserted drop-down lists within the form to save on typing. Each Scout should select 6 merit badges that they are interested in taking. The first request should be the badge they are most interested in completing with each subsequent selection corresponding with their next preferred badge. We will do our very best to try and meet every scout’s preferences but are limited by the number of counselors available and the number of seats in the class. We will however guarantee that each scout will be registered for two of the six badges they choose, provided they meet the pre-requisites for registration. After receiving your requests we will complete a final roster for your unit and email that back to you. Scoutmasters are asked to complete blue cards for each merit badge their scouts are registered for and provide them to their scouts before the first session. Merit Badge counselors will collect blue cards on the first day.
